Reflections on March and a beautiful Mandala

marchmandala19small.jpg

The glorious days of early spring bring out a proliferation of greens, from the weeds in your back garden to the nutritious nettles deep in the woods. This was a great month to get started with foraging, then use that new knowledge to go find some stinging nettle! There are plenty of ways to use this harbinger of early spring, from relaxing and nourishing nettle goat golden milk to versatile crepes that are wonderful with sweet or savory fillings.

Speaking of greens, you likely don’t have to venture far past your backyard for this elegant pasta dish made out of common weeds. Even cleavers can be made useful in nourishing cleavers-lime jelly bites for boosting the lymphatic system and supplying nutrition! So get yourself ready for barefoot season with this ritual and foot scrub recipe and get outside!

I also focused on eggs this month, as they are symbols of springtime and fertility and make their way into pretty much every spring festival or celebration. I even wrote a sweet little ritual to accompany my acorn and white chocolate breads with yellow eggs. Another special seasonal treat are delicious violet and blueberry cakes baked right inside real eggshells! Eggs offer up such a lovely array of different textures and properties; this primrose yema candy is like caramel meets fudge, with a rich flavor and silky texture. Even a leprechaun couldn’t deny that it’s worth its weight in gold.

From early spring greens to beautiful eggs to meaningful rituals and ceremonies to tie it all together, March is a time of vitality and community. Dust off those winter blues and get ready for the proliferation to come!

I have so loved sharing all of these springtime wonders with all of you this month! And whether or not you’re one of my patrons, I deeply appreciate your support. Every like, follow, comment, or contribution truly does mean so much to me, and reminds me why I spend all of my best days creating more wonder to share with all of you.
